I think Fox envied me a little bit because I had a wife and kids at home—and I know he thought the world of Angela. But he had no problem with me messing around with other women. That came with the territory; it’s what gangsters do.

But Fox could never understand why I would disrespect Angela and risk losing my kids by banging hookers. The Fox hated whores. He said they dishonor women, and by fucking them I was disrespecting my wife.

That’s why Fox went nuts when I told him why I wasn’t hitting Sebastian’s with him that spring as often as we had been. The reason was I had fallen hard for a blonde, and not just any blonde. Jane was a hooker and the madam—JP—who supplied the girls I had set up in my secret apartment on Liberty Avenue.

“What are you doing with that bitch?” Fox said when I broke the news. “She’s nothing but a fucking whore!”

I told Fox I was careful, and what Angela didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her. He said if I really believed that I was more upazzo than he thought.

“They’ve got six senses, Ubatz, “ Fox said. “They’ve got antennae. She probably already suspects you fuck around on her. That’s why she’s so pissed off at you all the time. Sooner or later she’ll find out for sure about the girls you bang. You can handle that; she knows the score and she’ll learn to live with it. But if she finds out you’re fucking that rubber hole, that’s it, she’s gone.”

I told Fox he was overreacting, there was no way my wife would ever find out.

“Yeah?” Fox said. “Wait and see.”
